Kobe University Information
The Kobe University (神戸大学 – Kōbe daigaku) was established in 1949 but can trace it’s roots back much further (1902). The main campus is located at Rokkodai (六甲台); there are three other campuses at Kobe University these being Myodani (名谷), Fukae (深江), and Kusunoki (楠). Being the main campus means that Rokkodai contains nine of the faculties at the university and many of the graduate schools. The Kobe University ranking is number 11 in Japan, and 316 to 324 in the world. Similarly rated colleges in Japan include Tsukuba University, Keio University, Hiroshima University, and Waseda University.
In total Kobe University has eleven faculties; these are dedicated to study in the following core subject areas Agriculture; Business Administration; Cross-Cultural Studies; Economics; Engineering; Human Development; Law; Letters; Maritime Sciences; Medicine; and Science.
Over the years Kobe university has ranked up some famous alumni including the Japanese prime minister Sosuke Uno. Other famous people include the biologist Shinya Yamanaka; and business leaders such as Masahito Takasaki, Masatoshi Yamamoto, Tadaharu Ohashi, Akio Tanii and Seiichi Takahata.
The Kobe University ranking is number 34 in Asia in the University Review List. Similarly ranked colleges include Sungkyunkwan University, National Tsing Hua University, and the National Chiao Tung University.
