Despite ranking lowly in the Jiatong university rankings Monash University is highly thought of by both the Times of London and Newsweek, who both rank it well inside the top 100 best universities in the world. The Monash University ranking is number 5 best college in Australia, and 129th in the world. Monash is located in Clayton, in the Australian state of Victoria. It was established in 1958 as a public institution and is currently governed by chancellor Alan Finkel. Monash has a world wide impact and has campuses in both South Africa and Malaysia in addition to the main one in Clayton, and smaller Australian campuses such as Caulfield and Berwick.
Monash university offers study across a large range of subjects and has ten main faculties. These are devoted to the study of Arts; Art and Design; Business and Economics; Education; Engineering; Information Technology; Law; Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences; Pharmacy; and Science.
