Yonsei University Information
Although the Yonsei University was established as recently as 1957, it can trace it’s roots back much further as part of it used to belong to the the Gwanghyewon (medical hospital); this was established in 1885.
The Yonsei University ranking is number 20 in Asia in the University Review List. Similarly ranked colleges include Peking, Keio, Fudan, and NT Singapore. Other renowned South Korean universities include Seoul National University, KAIST, Pohang University of Science and Technology, Korea University, Sungkyunkwan University and Kyungpook National University.
Nowadays this South Korean university attracts around 31,000 students, and has a secular basis, with the university belonging to the Association of Christian Universities and Colleges in Asia.
Yonsei University is very highly regarded in South Korea and is considered to be one of the best three universities in the country; it is ranked within the top 250 universities in the world by the Times of London.
Over the years the gates of Yonsei university has seen many great scholars and faculty pass through them. Some of these include poets such as Jung Jyun-Jong and Yun Tong-ju; politicians Han Seung-soo and Ahn Byung-Young; the mathematician Kim, Jeong Han; the film directors Na Woon-gyu and Bong Joon-ho; and the sports stars Ji-Yai Shin and Chun Lee-Kyung.
