Gifu University Information
Gifu University (岐阜大学), also known as Gifudai (岐阜大) or Gidai (岐大), is a national university located in Japan’s Gifu prefecture.
The Gifu University ranking is number 95 in Asia in the University Review List. Similarly ranked colleges include Tokyo Metropolitan, Kumamoto, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, and Osaka City.
It was founded in the year 1949 and appears in the Top 100 Asia Pacific Universities list of university rankings.
Gifu University offers a variety of undergraduate courses under its many faculties including Education, Regional Studies, Medicine, Engineering and Applied Biological Sciences. Gifudai also offers graduate courses in the aforementioned faculties, plus post graduate degrees in Agricultural Sciences, Veterinary Sciences, and Drug Discovery and Medical Information Sciences through its collaboration with Shizuoka University.
To help with its academic endeavors, the university has advanced facilities like it’s University Library which has a collection of over 880,000 volumes, with approximately 20,000 more being added each year. Gifu University also has a center for general education which is in charge of continually improving the standard of education of the institution. It also has an International Student Center and Information and Multimedia Center.
Aside from its educational offerings, the university also offers many opportunities in the field of research. Gifudai has elaborate research facilities like the Life Sciences Center and River Basin Research Center, which conducts research in various fields from environmental science to advanced biological science. A lot of the university’s research goes into medical and life sciences, with practical applications of its scholarly research inculcated into its medical facilities like its different university hospitals and the university’s Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases.
The University hospital’s scope includes the Animal Medical Center, Medical Education Development Center and Collaborative Center for Academy/Industry/Government. The hospital boasts an array of advanced medical equipment including an optical communication system and use of electronic medical records which ensures accurate patient data and treatment. The hospital also houses the Advanced Critical Care Center, where patients who need special care are treated by over 80 nurses and 30 specialists.
Meanwhile, the Gifu University’s Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases houses the Center for Infrastructure Asset Management Technology and Research, Center of Innovative Photovoltaic Systems, Center for Die Engineering and Center for Advanced Drug Research and Technology.
