Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT), established in 1877, is one of the best educational and research institutions in Japan, providing well-designed academic programs in the fields related to agriculture and engineering at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels.

Organisation of the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology
The Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology is comprised of two faculties and six graduate schools.
The Faculty of Engineering consists of eight departments: Biotechnology and Life Science, Applied Chemistry, Organic and Polymer Materials Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Systems Engineering, Applied Physics, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Computer, Information and Communication Sciences.
The Faculty of Agriculture currently has five departments: Biological Production, Applied Biological Science, Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences, Eco-region Science, and Veterinary Medicine.
The system of the graduate schools at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology is divided into an educational and a research organization. The research organization was established as the Institute of Symbiotic Science and Technology, while the educational organization is presented by Graduate School of Engineering, Graduate School of Agriculture, and Graduate School of Bio-Application and Systems Engineering. Additionally, there is Graduate School of Technology Management and United Graduate School of Agricultural Science.
The Vision of the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology
TUAT is known for its “MORE SENSE” principle, meaning Mission Oriented Research and Education giving Synergy in Endeavors toward a Sustainable Earth. The idea behind this unique approach is that a university’s research capabilities should not be restricted by the conventional, narrow separations between disciplines because a university has an important role as an intellectual base of society. In other words, the University has erased the sharp line between technology and agriculture and is promoting interaction between agriculture, engineering and comprehensive science and technology research. The Institute of Symbiotic Science and Technology was established in order to embody the concept of agriculture and engineering interacting at actual problem-solving situations.
Research Facilities at the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology
Apart from the Institute of Symbiotic Science and Technology, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology has plenty of other research facilities, these include The Center for Higher Educational Development, Gene Research Center, and two university libraries located on both campuses – Fuchu and Koganei. The University also has its own Veterinary Clinic, Machine Research Plant and Museum of Fiber and Technology among other research and faculty facilities.
Studying at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology
Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology enrolls more than 4,200 undergraduate and about 1,800 graduate students, with over 400 of them being international students from over forty countries. TUAT International Student Center offers a variety of services to the international students in everyday campus life, and does research on intercultural exchanges.
