The University of Siena, UNIS (Italian: Università degli Studi di Siena) is the first publicly funded and one of the oldest universities located in Tuscany, Italy. The university was originally called Stadium Senese and was founded in 1240. In the early times, it had around 20,000 students, which is nearly half of its current total population of 54,000 students. The University of Siena is well-known for its excellence in the fields of Medicine and Law.
University of Siena has a great knowledge related tradition and a rich history. It also has a strong commitment and desire for modern innovation and researches. The University of Siena runs 61 first cycle degree programs; four single cycle degree programs in the field of pharmacy and medicine, which is regulated by European Union directives; one long single cycle degree program, laurea magistrale; and 53 second cycle degree programs, laurea specialistica. The students have options to choose from a large array of undergraduate and postgraduate programs including doctoral and master’s degree, specialization programs, which are normally designed to offer specific and unique training in the most innovative sectors. Its jurisprudence is consisting of 15 professors, 5 docents and 19 chairs. In medicine, it has 24 chairs with 22 professors and 31 docents.
The University of Siena is composed of nine schools namely: The School of Engineering; The School of Economics; The School of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences; The School of Humanities and Philosophy; The School of Jurisprudence; The School of Political Science; The School of Medicine and Surgery; The School of Pharmacy; and The School of Humanities and Philosophy – Arezzo.
The quality of lessons at University of Siena are monitored on a regular basis, as is the careful organization of teaching; the services provided in facilitating studying such as well-equipped laboratories and efficient and organized libraries; as well as the orientation, welcoming and the continuous assistance and tutoring services, are some of the strong points of the University of Siena; also is it’s support for disabled students and individuals who are experiencing difficulties with the program.
